Wesson Founders Day this weekend

Copiah County will again enjoy the Wesson Founders Day festivities Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 in downtown Wesson. The event is sponsored by the Wesson Chamber of Commerce and additionally by Trustmark, Copiah Bank and Entergy.

Headlining the event is the Cowboy Blues Band, who will perform beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday for the Trustmark street dance. The band features Jessie Howell on lead vocals, Brad Miller on lead and slide guitar, Johnny Glover on Drums, Al “Fish” Herring on keyboard and horn, and Paul Walther on vocals and bass guitar.

Other entertainers Saturday include Taylor DuBose, Brad Harveston and Eric Sharp, who will sing throughout the day.

Friday features a great gospel performance beginning at 6 p.m. with local group Driven By Nails, followed with By Faith at 6:45 and JudahSeed closing out the event and sponsored by Copiah Bank. All activities will be in downtown Wesson.

FOUNDERS RACE

Saturday, April 30 will begin with a 5K walk/run, one mile fun-run, and tot trot with registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. The race begins at 8 at Shop & Wash on Main Street.

The course for the race will include hills and curves with areas of flat and straight, paved surfaces, in a residential area. For more information, contact Melissa Bueto at 601-695-7744.

VENDORS

Vendors are welcome and more information can be received from the Chamber office at 643-5000.  Vendors will open their booths at 8 a.m. Saturday.

HEADLIGHTS & TAILPIPES

For the second year, the Chamber will sponsor Headlights & Tailpipes, a  “Cruise-In Car & Truck Show” open to the public.Registration information is also available at the Chamber office.

Plan to attend the parade at 11:00.  Grand Marshal is Wesson Baptist Church, celebrating 150 years.  

The new Founders Day Queen and Ambassador will be announced, as well.

Ticket holders have a chance to win cash and prizes in Minute to Win It.

The 22nd annual Wesson Founders Day celebration promises to be outstanding with great entertainment and many vendors – arts and crafts, music and food for everyone. Make plans now to participate in or attend the Wesson Founders Day.
