HUMC collecting items for ‘flood buckets’

The MS Conference of the United Methodist Church has issued an urgent appeal for ‘flood buckets’ stuffed with items that will assist homeowners in the flood-ravaged areas of Mississippi once the waters have subsided.
Locally, Hazlehurst United Methodist Church is a collection point for the supplies. The list of items requested is specific, since the buckets must be packed in a certain way for transport. All of the items must be new. Purchasing the items for a bucket is expected to cost around $55. HUMC (601-894-1709) has the list of items requested by the Conference. The Copiah County Courier also has a copy of the items needed (601-894-3141).
Contributions of money for the purchasing of the items are also welcomed and can be dropped off at HUMC on the corner of Green Street and Caldwell Drive, across from the Post Office in Hazlehurst.
HUMC urges everyone to assist victims of the flood and the recent tornadoes in any way possible and to continue to pray for those affected and for this ministry.
