Nearly half of registered voters participate in primaries

Circuit Clerk Edna Stevens said today that a higher number of voters cast votes in last week’s primary elections.  The total between Democrat and Republicans was 9,025, as certified by both parties’ executive committees late last week.

By comparison, in 2007, a little under 8,000 cast votes in the primary elections.  Copiah County includes nearly 19,000 registered voters.
