Murder suspect in custody in Copiah County

Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones said this morning that the manhunt for a ‘person of interest’ in a recent murder case has concluded with a man behind bars.
David Carter, no age or address available, was wanted in connection with the murder of Larry Mazie, 30, in Crystal Springs last week.  Carter was captured near Hammond, LA by U. S. Marshals early Thursday morning, Jones said.  Carter is being held in the Tangipahoa Parish jail awaiting transport to Mississippi.
Jones added that assistance and cooperation with and among officials in Louisiana, the U. S. Marshal Service and other law enforcement agencies was crucial in making the arrest.
More in next week’s print edition of the Copiah County Courier.
