John Allen Harris

John Allen Harris, 78, of Gallman, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. 

Visitation will be 4:30pm-8pm Thursday and 9am-10am Friday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.   Services will be 10am Friday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial in Gallman Cemetery.  Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.

Mr. Harris was a native of Copiah County.  He graduated from Hazlehurst High School in 1951.  He served in the US Air Force from May 29, 1952 to May 29 1956 and was stationed at Donaldson Air Force Base in South Carolina.  After getting out of the service he worked with his dad, Allie Harris, at the sawmill in Gallman for 7 years.  He then went to work for Kuhlman and later was self employed with cattle farming and hay business.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie and Ollie Mae Harris.
Survivors include: wife Juanita Carraway Harris; children, Retha Ann Manning (Lester), Deborah Anita Runnels (Tommie), and John Allen Harris, Jr. (Theresa); grandchildren, Jessica Templeton (Barret), T. J. Runnels (Carrie), Dee Anna Runnels and Jennifer Harris; step grandchildren, Lester Manning, Jr. (Rachel) and Brian Manning (Laura); great grandchildren, Kaden Harris Templeton and Landon Allen Runnels; step great grandchildren, Gunner Speed, Adrian Manning, Tabitha Manning and Coleton Grubbs; brother, Jim Wayne Harris (Diane); and sister, Barbara Sue Parker (Richard).  He also had numerous nieces and nephews.
