Dixon wins re-election in run-off

Tuesday’s unofficial run-off election results show that Dist. 1 Supervisor Earl Dixon has been re-elected.  Dixon earned 661 votes to challenger Billy Tanner’s 508.  Dixon faces no opponent in the November general election.

In statewide races, results in the county followed the statewide results.  In the Democratic run-off in the governor’s race, Johnny Dupree’s 1,399 votes bested Bill Luckett’s 576.  In the Republican race for state treasurer, Lynn Fitch scored 99 votes to Lee Yancey’s 53.  Both Dupree and Fitch will face opponents in the November general election.

Both Republican and Democratic parties have 10 days to certify their results before sending them to the statewide parties for acceptance.
