“I was proud of our guys,” Cline said. “We started off slow, but finally got rolling and controlled both sides of the ball and the clock. We had numerous big plays tonight from Kelton (Smith), Adam (Pitts), Peyton (Whitehead), and Dillon (Martin). When you make 4 or 5 big plays on your side, it’s usually the difference in the game.”
The Colonels had 366 total yards on offense – 272 rushing and 94 through the air, as Miller was 6 of 11 passing. Smith led all rushers with 237 yards on 20 attempts. Defensively, CA was led by Miller with 9 tackles, Doug Strait with 8 tackles, and Peyton Whitehead with 6.
Copiah hosts an important district matchup this Friday night as the Hillcrest Christian Cougars head south to Gallman. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
