Teddy Whittington

Elstner Deberry “Teddy” Whittington, 85, of Hazlehurst, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center in Meridian

Visitation will be Tuesday from 11-1 at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.  Services will be 1pm Tuesday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial in Beauregard Cemetery.

 
Mr. Whittington, formerly of Hazlehurst and Wesson, was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Hazlehurst where he attended faithfully before moving to Meridian.  He served as a deacon and church treasure for many years. 
 
Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Monete Hutchins Whittington; parents, A.J. and Robbie Whittington; brother, A.J. Whittington, Jr.; sister, Dorothy Fortenberry; and nephew, A.J. Whittington, III.
 
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jim Harris of Meridian; grandchildren, Timmy Harris and wife Misty, Tammy Crowe and husband Mike, Kim Eldridge and husband Tim, all of Meridian and Myers and wife Tonya of Brandon; great grandchildren, Michael Crowe, Cody Crowe, Chase Harris, Allison Harris, Kinley Eldridge and Natalie, all of Meridian.
 
Pallbearers will be Deacons of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.  A special thanks from his family to his loving and compassionate caregivers at Poplar Springs Nursing Center.
 

PaPaw, as he was lovingly called, will be greatly missed by all his family.
