Copiah boys stun East Rankin

Michael Bagley scored 36 points to lead the Copiah Academy Colonels in a stunning upset of East Rankin on Tuesday night on the road at ERA.
The Colonels held a 14 point advantage after the first quarter.  But, the Patriots slowly chipped away to trail by only three after the third period at 53-50.  The Colonels, led by Bagley, kept the pace in the fourth, however, as both teams scored 23 points.
Ty Quick added 20 and Bryce Berry 14 for the visiting Colonels.  Copiah travels to Presbyterian Christian on Friday for the final regular season game of the ’11-’12 season before the state AAA-D2 tournament begins on Monday at Heritage Academy in Columbus.
In the girls’ game, ERA throttled the Lady Colonels 70-45.  Carleigh Roberts led Copiah with 14.  Taylor Wilson added 14 and Mary Landrum Pryon, 10 for the Lady Colonels.
