Wesson defeats Eupora; advances in South 2A
The Wesson Cobras are one win closer to playing in the Big House in Jackson for the state 2A title after Tuesday night, defeating visiting Eupora 72-61.
Wesson got a team leading 20 points from Farrod Green, who also added two steals. Terry Brown had a highly productive night with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. J. J. Sutton matched Brown with 13 points and also grabbed 7 boards. Kaleb Skinner dished out six assists to go along with 8 points scored.
The Cobras raced to a 35-22 halftime lead and held on late with accurate free throw shooting, hitting 23 of 30.
The Cobras suit up again on Thursday night at the designated south 2A tourney site at Bay Springs High School. The opponent is Union High School. Tip off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
