HUMC Daycare celebrating Week of the Young Child

Hazlehurst United Methodist Church Daycare is celebrating Week of the Young Child by holding various activities including making pictures and having refreshments.
Also included in this week is a Friendship Quilt. Each child will have a foam square to decorate as he or she wants, including the “little ones” with footprints.
The group will also be fence painting which will be displayed in various businesses during the week.
The Hazlehurst Police Department will also be involved with fingerprinting of all the children and cards being given to the parents for safekeeping.
The week will culminate with a balloon release Friday at 10 a.m. Attached to the balloons will be the center’s name and address so whoever finds the balloons can contact the center to let them know how far the balloons went.
The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. The theme for 2012 is Early Years Are Learning Years®.
