Six wolves selected All-State by MACJC

WESSON – Six members of the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolfpack baseball team have been named to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College (MACJC) All-State Team. Named to the MACJC First Team is right fielder Zac Ferguson. Named to the All-State Second Team are second baseman Gabe Wilson, shortstop Noel Santos, catcher/designated hitter Jonathan Santana, pitcher Tyler Copeland, and third baseman/designated hitter Matt Smith.
Ferguson, a sophomore from Sandersville, hit .360 with 3 home runs, 30 RBIs, 50 hits and 8 doubles this season. He was tied for second on the team in walks (11).
Wilson, a freshman from Brookhaven, led the Wolfpack in batting average (.374), hits (58), at bats (155), and doubles (16). He accounted for 1 home run, 21 RBIs and was second on the team in runs (35).
Santos, a sophomore from New York, led the Wolfpack in runs (41), walks (21), triples (3), and on base percentage (.454). He was second on the team in hits (53), batting average (.363), and at bats (146).
A freshman from West New York, NJ, Santana hit .278 this season and had a slugging percentage of .522. He was tied for the team lead with 5 home runs and accounted for 24 RBIs.
Smith, a freshman from Wesson, led the Wolfpack in slugging percentage (.554), RBIs (32), and tied for the team lead in home runs (5). He was second on the team in on base percentage (.430), walks (11), and triples (2).
Copeland, a sophomore right-hander from Meridian, finished the season with a 4-3 record and an ERA of 2.23. He pitched 58.1 innings allowing only 14 walks. Copeland led the Wolfpack pitching staff with strikeouts (51). He pitched a complete game no-hitter in the Wolfpack’s last home series of the year, an 8-0 win over the East Central Warriors. He was named NJCAA’s Division II Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 23-29.
The Wolfpack, coached by Keith Case, finished the 2012 season with a 23-21-1 overall record and were 8-16 in the South Division.
