The qualification deadline for contenders and incumbents in the races for the county’s five election commissioner posts has come and gone. Three of the incumbents will face no opponent in November. One incumbent, Maudell Weeks, chose not to seek re-election in District 2.
The candidates are: District One: Democrats–Wilhelmina Dixon Jones (incumbent) and Nancy M. Tanner. District Two: Democrat-Gene Anding; Republican–Frances B. Taylor. District Three: Democrat–Bonnie S. Mclendon (incumbent). District Four: Democrat–Lydia Claiborne Green (incumbent). District Five: Republican–Beverly Hood.
The election will be held on November 6 as part of the federal election.
