HCSD makes final hires for ’12-’13 school year

The Hazlehurst City School District was still putting in place the faculty and staff for the 2012-2013 academic year at the monthly school board meeting on July 26, 2012.
Personnel
Hopkins approved these additional hires: Jimmy Hopkins was named the interim SIG Transformational Specialist; Ebony Virgil was approved as an assistant teacher for KinderCamp; High School Counselor Shaunderic Ashmore was paid for off contract work for three days in June and five days in July at $125 per day (the funds will come from the SIG Fund 2246); payment was approved for off contract professional development for all certified staff for trainings at $125 per day plus benefits for Curriculum, Behavior Management and Team building activities for the staff;  and approved CARES Center Inc., service agreement to serve as the independent provider of direct, long term assistance to the school for implementing behavior analysis consulting, in-classroom support and training services.
Diane Day of Day Certified Public Accountant was approved as the new financial consultant for the district.
Teresa Barnes was hired as the Assistant Principal for the high school.
Dr. Endrika Williams was approved as the Assistant Principal (C&I) to Federal Programs Director.  
Thirty substitute workers were approved for the year.
The resignations of  Brendsha Roby, Federal Programs Director and Bonnie Crapps, Curriculum Director were approved.
Finances
Conservator Jimmy Hopkins approved the June unaudited financial statements, July Claims docket and a resolution authorizing and directing the issuance of the $81,640.56 shortfall note. The actual totals were not available at the press time.
Other Business
Bids for 16th Section Lands were published for the records. The bids will be awarded by the state. Charles Tyler Brister, Haipoc Hunting Club and David Breaux submitted bids.
Conservator Hopkins approved acceptance from the Mississippi Forestry Commission Recommendations for seedlings, reforestation, and site prep spraying bids.
Several fixed assets were approved for disposal.
The meeting was adjourned until August 28 at 12:30 in the district administrative building.
