Indians, Tigers pick up wins
Football teams from Copiah County split with their opponents on Friday night. Hazlehurst and Crystal Springs picked up wins, while Copiah and Wesson both lost.
Hazlehurst collected at 32-16 win on the road at South Pike to improve to 5-0. The Indians, in the middle of a 4-game road swing, will be at East Marion next Friday night.
The surprising Crystal Springs Tigers improved to 4-1 with a well-earned 7-6 win at Canton High School on Friday night. The Tigers will have an off date next Friday before beginning Region 7-3A play at Jefferson County on September 28.
Likewise, the Cobras of Wesson will be off next Friday after dropping a 28-7 decision at West Marion last night and falling to 3-2. A homecoming date with Region 6-2A foe Amite County on September 28 is next up for Wesson.
The Copiah Academy Colonels remained winless after a long road trip last night to Leake Academy in Madden, MS resulted in a 33-24 loss. Now at 0-5, the Colonels host Presbyterian Christian, 49-31 winners over East Rankin last night, next Friday night.
