Constitution Week proclaimed by Mayor Banks

Mayor Henry Banks issued a proclamation supporting the Daughters of the American Revolution proclaiming Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week.
The resolution states:
“WHEREAS, September 17, 2012 marks the two hundred twenty-fifth anniversary of the drafting of the Constitutional Convention; and
“WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent document and its memorable anniversary and to the patriotic celebrations which all commemorate the occasion; and
“WHEREAS, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the United States of America  designating September 17 through 23 as Constitution Week;
“NOW THEREFORE, I, Henry C. Banks, Sr., by virtue of the authority vested in me as mayor of the City of Hazlehurst, do hereby proclaim the week of September 17 thorugh 23 as
“and urge all citizens to study the Constitution and reflect on the privilege of being an American with all the rights and responsibilities which that privilege involves.
“IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Hazlehurst to be affixed this 17th day of September in the year of our Lord, two thousand twelve.
