Indians, Cobras roll in Week 8
The 3A second-ranked Hazlehurst Indians, down 19-12 at halftime, got a big burst in the third quarter and defeated Franklin County 40-19 on Friday night, improving to 8-0 and 2-0 in Region 7-3A. Running back D’Alex Rockingham rushed for three touchdowns for the Indians, all in the second half, to help his team win. Franklin County fell to 4-4, 0-2. Hazlehurst hosts Wilkinson County this Friday night for homecoming. Wilkinson fell to 6-1, 1-1 after losing to Jefferson County on Friday.
Wesson notched a 39-6 win over Loyd Star in Region 6-2A. The Cobras improved to 5-2, 2-0, and face Enterprise, 0-7, 0-2, this Friday at Stone Stadium in Wesson on the Co-Lin campus.
Crystal Springs dropped their second Region 7-3A game, falling 22-13 to Prentiss. The Tigers, 4-4, 0-2, will face Franklin County at home.
And, Copiah Academy found the going tough in Clinton, LA, on Friday. The Colonels lost their eighth game of the season, falling to 0-8, against Silliman Institute by a final of 33-24. Copiah plays at MAIS South AAA Div.- II Hillcrest this Friday night. The Cougars are 1-7 and lost 49-0 to Presbyterian Christan last Friday.
