Cobras win; play at St. Joe for 6-2A title this Friday

Antonio Miller rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns on just 8 carries Friday night as the Wesson Cobras knocked off Enterprise-Lincoln Yellow Jackets 33-8.  The win puts Wesson, (6-2, 3-0)in the Region 6-2A championship game with Madison- St. Joe (8-0, 3-0) this Friday night in Madison.
Wesson led Enterprise 26-0 at the half on Friday.  Otis Smith scored from 7 yards out to open the scoring in the first quarter.  Miller added an 18 yarder later in the frame, giving the Cobras a 13-0 lead after one period.
Cobra quarterback Bailey Warren hit wide receiver Alex Smith in the numbers early in the second, as the two connected on a 47 yard pass play for a score.  A few minutes later fullback Koy McFarland added a 46 yard run to round out the first half scoring.
In the third, Miller found a seam in the Yellwo Jacket defense and outraced everyone 92 yards for Wesson’s final score.
Enterprise got a late Kenyon Frazier 1-yard run and a Neil Ratliff 2-point conversion for their only points of the night.
McFarland was 3-for-5 on extra points.  Jay Haynes was the defensive leader for the Cobras with 7 tackles.
“We’re happy to get another region win.  Now, we are set up to accomplish one of our goals, which is a region title,” said head coach Ronald Greer.  “I’m very proud of how well we’ve played up to now, and I expect us to give St. Joe our best shot on Friday night,” he added.
St. Joe is averaging around 40 points per game, while giving up less than 9.  The Cobras are averaging about 25 points scored and are surrendering under 16.  In 6-2
A play, the Cobras have been lights out, scoring over 100 total in 3 division games.
“St. Joe has a very well-coached and disciplined football team.  This game will be a fun challenge for us,” Greer said.
Last week the Bruins defeated Amite County 42-0.  In previous weeks they’ve beaten Puckett (47-13) and Loyd Star (44-0).
The two teams collide Friday night at St. Joe Field in Madison, with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
