Family that lost home to fire asks for help from public

Jerry Lee and Leslie Hallman Messer’s home burned to the ground Tuesday, Oct. 9. They escaped with their dogs and the clothes on their back. The vehicles were also saved.
They are now in need of household items to begin re-building their life together.
There will be a meeting at the Port Gibson Presbyterian Church Annex Thursday, Oct. 18, from 3 until 5 p.m. Leslie will be in attendance.
For those who can’t get to Port Gibson but want to support this couple, donations are being accepted at Hallmark Realty, 101 Downing Street (on the corner of Caldwell Drive and Downing Street in Hazlehurst).
Among items needed are linens, dish clothes and towels, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry basket, iron and ironing board, mixer, pots, pans, baking pans, and lots more. Anything dealing with a household is needed.
