Janie Edwards
Janie Pearl Edwards, 76,of Vicksburg, passed away October 15, 2012 at Vicksburg Convalescent Home.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10am-12pm and 1pm-2pm at Bethel Baptist Church. Services will be 2pm Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church with burial in Bethel Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Edwards was a native of Hazlehurst, graduated high school there, and lived there until moving to Vicksburg to live with her daughter 8 years ago. Janie had a passion for life and loved her family and grandchildren. She was an active church member and was an avid gardener. Most times you would find Janie tending her beautiful roses and azaleas. She was employed as a seamstress for many years and later was a mother of which she enjoyed to the fullest. Due to an illness she moved to Vicksburg to live with her daughter.
She is survived by daughters, Janice Sawyer of Vicksburg and Robin Renee Pitts of Brandon; brother, Carroll Davis of Georgetown; sister, Diane Thedford of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Josuah Shane Pitts, Jamison Paul Dickerson, Matthew Ryan Sawyer, and Dustin Wayne Sandifer; and great grandchild, Lathon Shane Pitts.
