Fred Howard, 81, of Crystal Springs, died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Hardy Wilson Hospital.
Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Sunday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. Services will be 2pm Monday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial at Old Crystal Springs Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs is handling arrangements.
Mr. Howard was a retired Master Sergeant in the Army. He served three tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea. He received the Purple Heart and several Bronze Medals. He owned and operated a tractor parts store. Mr. Howard was a long time Governor of Copiah Moose Lodge and supported Moose Heart and Moose Haven.
Survivors include: step-children, Howard McLendon, Carol Grubbs, and Monique Ainsworth (Keith); brothers, Robert Howard (Bonnie), Carl Howard (Leavern), and Ellis Howard all of Crystal Springs; sisters, Mary Alice Rutledge (Ervin) of Crystal Springs and Pauline Batton of Pearl; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church and Harmony Baptist Church.
