Cobras, Lady Cobras advance to South State 2A

The Wesson Cobras, 20-10, made a good run through last week’s Region 7-2A tournament at Bassfield to reach Friday’s championship game, but ran into a buzz saw against the home team and finished second.  The Yellow Jackets turned a 3-point halftime lead into a 76-55 win to claim the title.
Wesson’s Terry Brown earned the Region 7-2A Most Valuable Player award. His fellow Cobras Kaleb Skinner, Eddie McCullum and Farrod Green earned all-region honors, as well.
Wesson will start 2A state at home on Tuesday against Lake.  Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m.

The Lady Cobras, 15-15, also earned a spot in the 2A state tournament, by claiming the consolation prize with a win over Enterprise on Friday night.  The Lady Cobras must travel to Scott Central today.
