Hornets knock off Cobras setting up a Friday showdown for the Region 7-3A title
The Wesson Cobras lost a Region 7-2A game for the first time last night, falling at Loyd Star 2-1. The win by the Hornets put them into a first place tie with Wesson, with both teams at 7-1 in the region. The two teams meet in Wesson on Friday night at 7 p.m. to determine the champion.
The Cobras plated one in the first inning on a hit by Cullen Greer. Hornet pitching shut down the Cobra bats the rest of the way, as the Cobras managed only two more hits.
Loyd Star tied the game in the fourth, then scored their only other run in the sixth.
Bailey Warren pitched a gem for the Cobras, giving up only 2 hits and striking out 2. He also walked 3 Hornet batters.
