Keep Copiah County Beautiful clean up held Saturday

The Copiah County Chapter of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Copiah County Beautiful, will be sponsoring the annual cleanup day Saturday, April 13.
Drop-off points for garbage materials and recyclables are the parking lot behind Crystal Springs First Baptist Church; behind Hazlehurst Fire Station on West Frost Street; Georgetown and Beauregard.
Dumpsters will be placed throughout the county in the following locations: Allen Volunteer Fire Dept., Barlow Volunteer Fire Dept., Hopewell Volunteer Fire Dept., Smyrna Volunteer Fire Dept., and Bethel Volunteer Fire Dept., and Stronghope Baptist Church baseball field.
The dumps at Martinsville and Crystal Springs will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Crystal Springs Recycling located on Hwy 51 will be open all day Saturday to collect electronics and other white goods.
The two county dumps are open on Tuesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The north dump is located on Hwy 27 East just past Sojourner Trucking and Bankhead Lane on the right. The south dump is located on Cline Road. Take 51 south to It, turn right on Martinsville Rd. and left on Tyson Road, then left on Dixie Garden Road and right on Cline Road.
Materials allowed in the pit are: chips, flowers, tree limbs, leaves and grass, concrete, brick, stone charcoal, paper, books, magazines, clothing.
Materials allowed in separate pile are: iron, steel, bed frames, bicycles, all appliances, refrigerators, air conditioners, stoves, freezers, washers, dryers, small appliances, lawn care equipment and air or gas tanks.
Materials allowed in dumpsters are: paper and cardboard, floor covering, plastic, televisions, grass, leaves, flowers and tree limbs (cut up), clothing, aluminum chairs with plastic strips, carpet and carpet pad, glass, concrete, brick or stone, furniture (couch, chairs, mattresses, wooded or plastic bed frames).
Materials not allowed in dump or dumpsters: sawdust, pallets, wood, paneling, flooring, shingles or roofing materials, sheet rock or other construction site waste, vehicle tires, motor or transmission oils, etc., paint, volatile liquids, etc. asbestos, pesticides, herbicides, food or kitchen waste, vehicle batteries.
NOTE: For this event only: Tires, batteries, empty gas tanks and canisters, empty paint cans and empty pesticide containers may be placed beside the dumpsters. This DOES NOT include used motor oil. Please make sure they are in separate piles. The Sheriff’s Inmate Litter Collection Team will dispose of these.

MATERIALS NOT  ALLOWED
IN DUMP OR DUMPSTERS

Sawdust, motor or transmission oils, pallets, asbestos, paint, volatile liquids, wood paneling, flooring, shingles or roofing materials, sheet rock or other construction site waste, food or kitchen waste, pesticides or herbicides, vehicle tires, vehicle batteries
For this event only:  Tires, batteries, empty gas tanks and canisters, empty paint cans and empty pesticide containers may be placed beside the dumpsters.  This DOES NOT include used motor oil.  
Please make sure to place these items in separate piles.  The Sheriff’s Inmate Litter Collection Team will collect and  dispose of these items properly.

COUNTY DUMPS OPEN
Open: Tuesday & Saturday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The North Dump is located on Highway 27 East, just past Sojourner Trucking and Bankhead Lane, turn right.
The South Dump is located on Cline Road. Hwy. 51 to It, right on Martinsville Road, left onto Tyson Rd, left onto Dixie Garden Road, right onto Cline Road.
Everyone using the dumps is asked to follow these guidelines about where to put certain types of trash. The county dumps are closely scrutinized by the Department of Environmental Quality and any violations can result in hefty fines which must be paid out of your tax dollars.

Iron, steel, bed frames, bicycles, appliances (refrigerators, air conditioners, stoves, freezers, washers, dryers, small appliances, lawn care equipment, air or gas tanks.
