Kevin Monzon
Kevin Alberto Monzon, 19, of Crystal Springs, MS went to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 25, 2013, as a result of an auto accident near Itta Bena, MS where he was a sophomore at Mississippi Valley State University.
Visitation is Friday, May 3, 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Stringer Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Saturday, May 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the Crystal Springs High School Gymnasium. Graveside services will follow at the Crystal Springs Cemetery on N. Jackson Street. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Stringer Funeral Home in Crystal Springs.
Kevin was born on June 3, 1993, in Santa Clara, CA to Trinidad Barrera and Julio Alberto Monzon. He moved to Crystal Springs his freshmen year of high school and attended Crystal Springs High School. Kevin graduated in 2011 as Historian of his class. He was honored with a scholarship to attend Marietta College in Ohio. His dream was to play football in a Division 1 football team. He chose MVSU to continue that dream.
Kevin’s passion was in sports, from football to golf, he played them all. While Kevin’s life here was too short, he touched the lives of so many with that never-ending smile and his infectious personality. He loved giving to the community and helping people with anything he could. His faith in God and passion for life made him a joy to be around. He will be dearly missed by everyone who loved him.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Trinidad Monzon, Modesto, CA; his father, Julo Monzon, San Jose, CA; siblings, Roberto and Janina Oquendo; Crystal Springs family, Larry Howard, Logan Howard and Glenda Howard; and his fiancé, Monique Kirkwood, Senatobia. He is also survived by grandparents, Maria Hernandez Barrera and Yolanda Vargas, aunts, Janina Barrera, Ana Barrer Celaya, Theresa Santa, Mari Trigueros, Daisy Barrera Caceres, Guadalupe Barrera and Elizabeth Barrera, uncles, Alfonso Barrera and Manuel Barrera, cousins, Nathen Aleman, Kendra Santa, Nancy Barrera, Jaime Carballo and Rene Carballo. Other survivors include a host of family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be close friends who were like brothers, Aren Case, Blake Chunn, Aaron Davenport, Logan Howard, Kenneth Llamas, Brian Piaz, Christian Ruiz and Kevin Ruiz.
