City of Hazlehurst plans tax increase

The City of Hazlehurst will hold a public hearing on a proposed ad valorem tax revenue increase for the fiscal year 2013-2014 on August 20 2013 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
The City of Hazlehurst is now operating with a projected total budget revenue of $3,111,712.70 or &684,361.00 of such revenue is obtained through ad valorem taxes. For next fiscal year, the proposed budget has total projected revenue of $3,346,806.99. Of that amount, $750,000.00 proposed to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy.
For the next fiscal year, the City of Hazlehurst plans to increase your ad valorem tax millage rate by 3.5 mills from 34.39 mills to 37.89 mills. This increase means that you will pay more in ad valorem taxes on your home, automobile tag, utilities, business fixtures and equipment and rental real property.
Any citizen of the City of Hazlehurst is invited to attend this pubic hearing on the proposed ad valorem tax in crease. A final decision on the proposed tax increase will be made September 3, 2013 at 6 p.m. in a public hearing to be held at City Hall.
