This week’s football wrap-up

Hazlehurst began the defense of their 2012 state 3A football title last Friday night hosting Murrah High School.  When the dust settled on the grass surface at Robert McDaniel stadium, the Indians prevailed 55-35, becoming the only team in the county to produce a win in the first week of action.

In other games, Leake Academy defeated Copiah 21-7.  Lawrence County ran past Wesson 42-7. And, Prentiss nipped Crystal Springs 20-13.

This Friday’s contests are: Taylorsville at Hazlehurst; Copiah at Jackson Prep; Wesson at Sumrall; and, Crystal Springs at Florence.

Be sure to play Football Frenzy 2013 each week starting this week for your chance to win a prize from the Copiah County Courier.  See page 6A in this week’s edition and submit your entry by 4 p.m. Friday!
