Rockin’ Trail Run kicks off Rockin’ Railroad Festival

The second annual Rockin Trail Run presented by the Hazlehurst Area Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for Saturday as part of the Rockin’ Railroad Festival.  The run will be held at scenic Hood Scout Reservation, located about 13 miles west of Hazlehurst on Old Port Gibson Road off Highway 28 west.  
The trail run is the idea of local fitness guru and Chamber executive board member Amy Keywood, who also owns Keyhabits Fitness with her husband and fellow runner Jerry. She has also organized the successful Great Commission Run and Walk that precedes the First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst’s Go4th Independence Day celebration.

Runners have a choice of 5K or 10K courses. Both events will have male and female awards: Overall, Overall Masters, Overall Grandmasters.   Age groups are:  14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. Everyone who completes the course will be presented with a custom-embroidered patch to go along with a t-shirt that is given to all those who have pre-registered.  A registration fee of $20 will be collected up until Saturday, then the fee goes up to $25.
 Packets can be picked up at Stark’s Family Restaurant on Hwy. 28 in Hazlehurst on Friday, Sept 27 from 4 to 8 p.m.  Stark’s will provide a special pre-race meal for athletes for an additional per person fee of $5.
