After not playing against each other for over 70 years, despite being  in the same county, a large crowd gathered to watch  a football game between Hazlehurst and Wesson on Friday night to open Region 7-3A play.  The much anticipated game featured Wesson head coach Ronald Greer taking on his former player Randal Montgomery, head coach of Hazlehurst.

The Indians took the opening kickoff and drove 66 yards, capped by a 7 yard rushing touchdown by Malik Brown. The extra point was good by Dycelious Reese, and the Indians led 7-0 with 9:43 left in the first.
