Marjorie Barlow Hamilton
Marjorie Barlow Hamilton, 76, of Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Hardy Wilson Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Thursday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Services will be 2pm Friday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial in Hazlehurst Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.
She was born on December 21, 1936 to Harvey and Etta Jenkins Barlow. Mrs. Hamilton was a successful business woman for over 30 years. She opened Cannons Coiffures where she worked as a cosmetologist and also was the owner of Hazlehurst Jewelers. She and Evelyn Hall started Hallmark Realty where she thrived as a real estate agent for years.
Mrs. Hamilton was a lifelong resident of Copiah County and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother as well as a caring friend to many. She will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones she leaves behind.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Etta Barlow, brother, Freddie Barlow, granddaughter, April Tompkins Roskowski, great granddaughter, Kara Leigh Darby and Great grandsons, Gavin O’Bryant Tompkins and Gunner Owen Tompkins.
Survivors include: her husband, Harold Wayne Hamilton; sons, Donald Cannon (Regina), Ronald Garrett Cannon, Sr. (Nicki) all of Hazlehurst and Ronald Garrett Cannon, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Clinton; daughter, Marjorie Reneè Tompkins of Hazlehurst; Grandsons, Robert Greggory Tompkins, Jr and Hunter Garrett Cannon; granddaughters, Britney Cannon Dickson and Kayla Hudson Cannon; and seven great grandchildren.
