INDIANS OWN 7-3A

BY VALARIE ROBINSON

The Hazlehurst Indians wasted little time in executing their game plan at rival and Region 7-3A foe Crystal Springs on Friday night.  The visitors raced to a 41-6 halftime lead over the Tigers, cruising to a 56-28 win that sewed up another undefeated Reg. 7-3A conference slate for the Indians.

“We played well and finished the season like we wanted to, as region champs,” said Indian head coach Randal Montgomery.  The win pushed Montgomery’s incredible 2+ season record to 39-3 and a complete sweep of the region for the third straight year.

Hazlehurst scored in the first half on runs by seniors D’Alex Rockingham and Dycelious Reese.  Each scored twice after the Indian offense put together good drives that kept the Tiger defense guessing.  Senior quarterback Jarvis Warner added a rushing touchdown and one through the air to Dycelious Reese with 5 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
