Mt. Zion seniors enjoy train ride in Marion Co.

Toot, Toot, the Mt Zion Baptist Church’s Senior Adult Group is off to ride the Marion County Recreational Railroad with Engineer, Jerry Collier; Conductor William McNeese, and Flagman, Steve Robbins.
The sound of the train whistle and the clacking of the rails have long been a part of the atmosphere in Marion County since the railroad was built there in the early 1880’s.
It was a cold day but the train car is heated for your comfort and Mr. McNeese gave us the history of the railroad and why people come to ride, such as, field trips, birthday parties, even retirement parties. There was over 100 people to ride on Saturday before we were there on Tuesday.
