Colonels win Simpson tourney

The Colonels finally broke .500 on their winning percentage with wins in the first two rounds of the Simpson County Christmas tournament, beating Columbia and Hillcrest. They now would face Sylva Bay Academy in the finals.

The Saints of Sylva Bay would reach the championship game by beating Mendenhall High School in the first round and beating Simpson in the semifinals.

The Saints came out and stuck it to the Colonels, possessing the lead at the end of the first quarter 16-11. Copiah then out scored their opponents in the second quarter 26-11, taking the lead at halftime with a 37-27.
