VIDEO: Mississippi’s First Lady visits Wesson Elementary

By Joe B. Coates
First grade students at Wesson elementary gathered together in their library on Wednesday eagerly, but quietly, awaiting the arrival of Mississippi’s First Lady Deborah Bryant.  When Bryant arrived around 10 a.m., the students eyes brightened and their smiles widened as they welcomed Bryant cheerfully.
Bryant gave the curious students a little background on herself and her husband Phil, who serves as the governor of Mississippi.  She told them about her children and some of the books her dad read to her while she was growing up and some of the things she does as First Lady.
After a brief introduction, she read “One True Bear” by Ted Dewan to the delight of each student.  Following that, she had an opportunity to visit with the children, many of whom were very comfortable with the first lady.
