Frances Gaddy
Frances Dickson Gaddy, 85, of Crystal Springs, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Methodist Fayette Hospital in Somerville, Tenn.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Stringer Funeral Home in Crystal Springs, Miss., and the service will be officiated by her great-nephew, Wayne Bagley. Visitation is 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, with the service at 11 a.m. at Stringer Family Chapel. She will be buried at the Old Crystal Springs Cemetery.
She was formerly a registered nurse at Hardy Wilson Memorial Hospital and the Pine Crest Guest Home, both in Hazlehurst, Miss. She loved crocheting, sewing, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.
She was born on March 5, 1928, in Bogalusa, La. She grew up in Jackson, Miss., and lived for many years in Crystal Springs before living in Tupelo, Petal, and Oxford, all in Mississippi, and then Collierville, Tenn. Most recently, she was a resident at Gallaway Healthcare Center in Gallaway, Tenn. She was a graduate of the Touro Infirmary School of Nursing in New Orleans, La., and a former member of New Zion Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, Miss.
She is survived by her son-in-law and daughter, Harry and Carolyn Bahm of Collierville, Tenn.; her granddaughters, Virginia McCullough and Caitlyn Bahm of Collierville, Tenn.; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Ray “Chick” Gaddy, and her second husband, Walter Douglas Garland III; her sisters, Virginia Bowlin, Doris Graves, and Melba Walters; and her brother, Thomas Dickson. She was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Dickson and Gladys Dickson and the stepdaughter of the late Paul Lehman.
