Five Hazlehurst Indians signed college football scholarship offers on National Signing Day last Tuesday. Four of the players–Tourian Samuels, D’Alex Rockingham, Johnkil Skipper and Dedric Reese–will continue their education at Jones County Junior College next fall, while playing football. One other–John Bridges, Jr.–will enroll at Co-Lin next fall.
Coach Randal Montgomery said he was proud to have been a teacher of the young men, not only of the game of football, but also of the game of life. “These five guys were the nucleus of our three year run in which we won 43 games. They played hard every Friday night and practiced hard every other day to get better. I’m very proud to have been a part of their lives. The ride has been a fun one,” Montgomery, who is leaving Hazlehurst to take the same position at Columbus High School, said afterward.
