JAMES (JACK) WILSON SR.

James Jacks (Jack) Wilson, Sr., 74, of Crystal Springs, died Sunday, March 2, 2014.

A Tuesday, March 4 visitation will be held from 5 to 8 at Stringer’s Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. Services will be held Wednesday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at  New Zion Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 with Stringer’s Funeral Home handling arrangements.

He was born Feb. 5, 1940, in Belzoni, to Paralee and Wesley Wilson, one of 11 children.
In 1972, he established Wilson’s Meat House Inc. It was a family effort, even with employees considered family.

He was named Mississippi’s Farmer of the Year, being a master pork producer and very much involved with the Dixie National  Sale of Champions. He worked with the Copiah County Soil and Water Conservation and supported countless local ball teams and community activities.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Peggy Ann Grant Wilson, and also Linda Sue Grantham Wilson to whom he was also married for 25 years. Also preceding him were daughters, Michelle Rae Oliver, Rebecca Sue McClelland; son, Thomas Lyle (Boots) Wilson (Bonnie); sisters, Laura Virginia Webb, Mamie Lee Petrik, Mattie Lou Murff and brothers, Wesley Wilson Jr. and Arthur Vardaman (Red) Wilson (Bonnie).

 Survivors include: wife, Ray Jean Howell Wilson; daughters, Debra Ann Berry, Vickie Lynn Jasper (Ricky), Tammy Jo Stowe, Sandra Jean Smith (Mickey), Leanne Grantham Williams (Rick); sons, James Jacks Wilson, Jr. (Michelle), James Larry Grantham, II (June), Daniel Clinton Berch, Samuel Lloyd Berch (Leslie); sister, Jeanette Wilson Russell; brothers, Charles Clifford Wilson, Jimmy Wayne Wilson, Thomas Statum Wilson, Henry O’Neil Wilson; 44 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
