The School Board for the Hazlehurst City School District approved the timber sales and leases during the monthly business meeting held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.
The board approved advertising the sale of timber on 260 acres of 16th Section land.
Under the direction of Mike Ainsworth, Independent Contractor for the HCSD’s 16th Section Land, the board awarded two rounds of thin sales on roughly 260 acres of land for agriculture hunting and fishing.
According to Ainsworth, the district has about 100 individual leases that earn the district about $130,000 annually.
