Benefit for Kathy Munn at Moose Lodge in Brookhaven
Saturday, June 7, the Brookhaven Loyal Order of Moose Lodge is hosting a benefit for Kathy Munn. At 11 a.m. there will be a pulled pork dinner, auction and drawing held at the lodge, located at 1229 Calcote Loop NE. The event will go all day with live entertainment and children’s activities.
Kathy Munn suffered a stroke in February. Returning to the doctor in March, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer involving her brains and lungs.
The Munns are long-time residents of the Brookhaven/Wesson area.
With no medical insurance, hospital bills are skyrocketing and everyday expenses are becoming more of a burden. Kathy is no longer able to work and her husband, Jimmy Lee Munn, is a truck driver and tries to be home as much as he can.
According to the National Cancer Institute, the price tag of having cancer can range from $90,000 to $150,000.
The LOM is a national service organization that focuses on hosting and supporting community charity events. Last year the organization held a benefit for another cancer victim and raised $18,000 for him.
The pulled pork plates will be $8. All of the food and auction items are donations, and volunteers will staff the event.
