Summer food program feeds kids for free

With summer right around the corner, it’s time to think about keeping children healthy while school is out. Hazlehurst City School District provides free meals to children during the summer.

This summer meals will be served at Hazlehurst PreK-8 Cafeteria. Summer feeding started on June 2 and will end July 25. Breakfast will be served from 7:15-8 a.m. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The summer feeding program will be closed on July 2, 3, and 4. There are no income requirements or registration. Any child under age 18 may come to eat. For more information contact 601-894-1512.

Each year the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like Hazlehurst City School District to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer. For more information about the national Summer Food Service Program, visit http://www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/summer.
