Cochran carries Copiah en route to statewide win

Republican Senator Than Cochran has narrowly defeated challenger Chris McDaniel in the Republican Party Primary Runoff, held yesterday. Cochran picked up around 51% of the total, while McDaniel earned just over 49%.

In Copiah County, unofficial results show Cochran with 1,764 votes to McDaniel’s 1,415. Cochran faces Democratic nominee Travis Childers in November.
