James Earl Smith, Sr., 59, of Beauregard, died Sunday, July 13, 2014, at his home.
Viewing of the body will be Monday, July 21, at Hazlehurst Funeral Home in Hazlehurst from 12-6 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday, July 22, at St. Peter Rock M.B. Church in Wesson at 11 a.m,
Mr. Smith was born May 2, 1955, to Charlie Lee Smith and Geraldine Harrison-Smith in Wesson.
He joined St. Peter Rock M.B. Church at an early age and attended Parrish High School and graduated from Co-Lin High School. He was the owner and operator of J.E. Smith Logging until his health failed him.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alma Jean Smith and Charlie Marie
Smith; and mother-in-law, Eva Dixon.
Survivors include: his wife of 40 years, Darnis Smith; sons, James Earl (Jada) Smith, Jr., Darrel Montory (Valencia) Smith, both of Beauregard, and Cory Alexandra Vaughn of Brookhaven; daughter, Sabrina Nate’ Smith of Beauregard; brothers, William Earl (Synthia) Smith of Crystal Springs and Lee Edward (Romonita) Smith of Jackson; siters, Brenda (Anthony) Thadison of Brookhaven and Laura Ann (Billy) Hall of Hazlehurst; and six grandchildren.
