Mrs. Bessie Wallace Delaney celebrates 95th birthday

Bessie Delaney celebrated her 95th birthday with family and friends from near and far. The day was hosted by Kenneth and Virginia Delaney of Crystal Springs, Pete and Renee Cantu of Natchez, and Sylvia Delaney of Fayetteville, AR, in the home of Kenneth and Virginia.
Many were present to share this joyous occasion. Family and some friends came for the day and had lunch with her. Other friends and family came for the reception in the afternoon and enjoyed sharing her birthday cake, but mostly had fun visiting and catching up on the latest news.
Kayce Smith, her great granddaughter, collected pictures from over the years of her life and had them printed into a “Your Life” photo book. All who came enjoyed looking at her life photos with her and discussing the time and events they represented, and of course laughing at some!
Born to James and Rosella Wallace on July 13, 1919, in Fayette, Miss Bessie is the only surviving sibling of 11 brothers and sisters. She married Nelvie Delaney on June 6, 1936, in Meadville, and they were married 36 years before his death. During their married life they lived in Franklin, Copiah and Lincoln counties, and they had four children.
From these four children, she has been blessed with five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
For many years she lived in Hazlehurst, before moving to Crystal Springs, where she currently resides in her home on Lee Avenue.
