Gunn to speak in Hazlehurst

Philip Gunn, Speaker of the Mississippi House of Representatives, will be addressing the Copiah County Republican Party on Thursday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at Kannu’s Restaurant, 1001 Vincent St. in Hazlehurst. “We are thrilled to be joined by Speaker Gunn at our upcoming monthly meeting,” says Copiah County Republican Party Co-Chairman Wil Ervin.
“Speaker Gunn is a true conservative leader and a shining light both in his community and also in the State of Mississippi.”

Gunn began serving the Mississippi House of Representatives in 2004. On Jan. 3, 2012, he became the 61st Speaker of the House of Representatives in Mississippi. This is the first time in 136 years a Republican has held this title in the Mississippi House of Representatives.
