Time to move on

Football in Copiah County has come to a begrudging close over the past few days, with Co-Lin losing the state title game on Saturday and Hazlehurst and Wesson losing in the first round of the 3A playoffs on Friday.

I had picked Co-Lin to win the MACJC state title back in August in our Game Time 14 publication, along with the Copiah Academy fastpitch team winning the state AAA title (which they did).  The Wolfpack earned a shot at the championship even after losing a couple of games (one to Southwest, which, if it was played again, would be a Wolfpack rout) and playing from behind in the final regular season game to secure a spot in the playoffs.  Turnovers in the title game against an East Mississippi team that could win a couple of SEC Western Division games kept the Wolfpack from taking home the hardware, though.

We’re proud of the Wolfpack and all area teams in all fall sports for accomplishing and for entertaining us.  Now its time to move on to basketball (indoors) and soccer (outdoors) and pray that the weather will always be cooperative.
