Wesson’s American Legion Auxiliary attends Veterans day programs

The American Legion Auxiliary members of Wesson’s Drane Prine Unit serving as officers for the year 2014-2015 are, left to right, Sharon Langley, unit president; Annie Wingo, vice president and membership; Frances Mullins, secretary and treasurer; Anna Hartgraves, historian and scrapbook chairman; Mary Hopson, chaplain; Janet Currie and Carolyn Frazier, sergeants-at-arms. With the national observance of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, American Legionnaires and American Legion Auxiliary members attended area meetings and programs. Wesson’s Drane Prine Post #79 was well represented at the annual Veterans breakfast held at Wesson Attendance Center, followed by a program in the gymnasium presented by the students honoring the veterans.

Serving as officers with Sharon Langley for 2014-2015 year of the Drane Prine Auxiliary are: Annie Wingo, vice-president and membership; Frances Mullins, secretary-treasurer; Anna Hartgraves, historian; Mary Hopson, chaplain; Carolyn Frazier and Janet Currie, sergeants-at-arms; Shirley Hennington, Poppy chairman; Helen Page and Myrtle Page, greeting cards chairmen; Mary Boyte, coupons chairman. Officers were installed by Kathy Dungan of Wesson who is Chairman of Education for the American Legion Auxiliary at the national level.

Anna Hartgraves, historian, won second place at state convention in Vicksburg for the unit’s scrapbook which she compiled so beautifully.

Members of both the Auxiliary and the Legion of Wesson meet on the third Tuesday of each month except December for a covered dish meal followed by business meetings.

The American Legion Auxiliary is an organization of over 850,000 members throughout the United States with a mission, along with the Legion, to honor our veterans and seek to serve them and their families.

The Drane Prine Unit will assist with the Christmas party for the residents at the State Veterans Home in Collins.
