Walker retires from MDOT; celebrates with family

Neal Walker of Hazlehurst celebrated his retirement from the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) over the Thanksgiving holidays with his family at Jerry’s Catfish in Florence.

Neal, a third generation MDOT employee, began his career in Jackson in the sign department. He transferred to the Hazlehurst MDOT in 1995 after he and his family moved to Wesson. He worked for MDOT a total of 25 years.

Those attending the celebration were his parents, Ken and Dorothy Walker; sister, Rhonda DeNarda, husband, Nick and niece Maegan of St. Peters, MO; cousins, Misti Smith, husband Alan and children Sydney, Reagan and Cole of Cummings, GA; aunts, Charlotte Farthing of Hazlehurst, Emma Tillman and husband Wayne of Crystal Springs; and Lanell Woods of Crystal Springs.

Neal is looking forward to his retirement and a trip to Universal Studios to see Harry Potter. This trip is a retirement gift from his sister and brother-in-law.

Neal is the grandson of the late Thompson and Lillie Mae Barlow of Hazlehurst.
