Martha Sue (Susie) Ashley
Martha Sue (Susie) Ashley, 68, of Hazlehurst, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the University Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Visitation will be 5pm-9pm Thursday and 1pm-2pm Friday at Unity Baptist Church. Services will be 2pm Friday at Unity Baptist Church with burial at Unity Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Ashley was an active member of Unity Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and singing duets with her husband until declining health. She loved to cook and also enjoyed gardening but most of all she loved spending time with her family and having her grandchildren with her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Farrar Anderson Gunter; mother, Clara Mae Wilson; daughter, Stacy Hooper Simpson; sister, Vonda Gunter Hawn; and a granddaughter, Paige Jones.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Ashley; daughters, Stephanie Christman and husband Danny of Florence, Kendra Hust and husband Leigh of Crystal Springs, and Christy McNabb and husband William of Star; sons, Jeremy Marbury and wife Lisa of Pearl, and Ken Ashley and partner Scott Alford of Hattiesburg; daughter-in-law, Tara Marbury Rutledge of Grenada; sister, Mary Bourgoin of Brandon; grandchildren, Allison, Eric, Courtney, Cole, Carson, Emily, Jacob, Breyann, Brayden, Taylor, Dustin, Austin, and Jordyn; and great grandchildren, Daniel, Zachery, and Kaleb.
