Go4th has become town’s summer ‘social’

You see it Madison.  You see it Brandon.  You see it Jackson, Clinton and Pearl. You see a July 4 community event attended by hundreds of smiling people, though fighting the heat, the humidity, the bugs or all three.  You see a community come together on a holiday to enjoy each other’s company and to celebrate our country’s birthday.   And, now, you see it here in Hazlehurst.

Saturday’s fifth annual Go4th celebration book-ended what many of us usually do on the fourth–attend a barbecue, visit with family and friends, eat watermelon and homemade ice cream, splash around in a pool or some other cooling water hole, followed by setting off fireworks.  Its popularity is increasing every year, involving more from our community, beginning with the downtown race that starts the day to grand finale of the commanding fireworks show at Lake Hazle that concludes the day.

Seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces throughout the day this past Saturday is proof that Go4th is not only the social event of the summer, but is also becoming a ‘must’ on to-do lists throughout the area.
