Marvin Haffner

Marvin L. Haffner, 85, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. 

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Wild Flower Presbyterian Church in Sioux Falls, SD.  Family will be present for visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, November 8, 2015 at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, SD.

Marvin Haffner was born June 11, 1930 to Edward and Mary (Thoig) Haffner in Huron, SD.  His family moved to Sioux Falls where he graduated from Washington High School in 1949. 

Marvin married Donna Carsrud on June 29, 1951 in Luverne, MN.  He enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Marvin attended Barber College in Sioux City, IA.  He owned and operated Haffner’s Barber Shop for 69 years and Haffner’s Vacuums for 37 years, as well as owning and maintaining several laundromats and rental properties in Sioux Falls, SD.

Marvin was an active member of Wild Flower Presbyterian Church, the VFW, and the American Legion.  He devoted his life to his faith, his family, and his work.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his parents; two grandsons; 1 great-granddaughter; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Marvin is survived by his children: Mary Tilden, Sioux Falls, SD; Marvin (Reba) Haffner, Jr, Wesson, MS; Bobby Haffner, Sioux Falls, SD; Becky Moneypenny, MI; and Lisa Haffner Sternhagen, Sioux Falls, SD; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Artilda) Haffner, Sioux Falls, SD; Guy (Barb) Haffner, VA; and one sister, Rose (Jim) Thuringer, Sioux Falls, SD.
